Two Victims Named in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences on social media, remarking: “There are no words. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.
